Cantilevered structures, sloping roofs, starbursts, boomerangs, steel, glass, and neon colors are some of the elements found on Googie architecture. A subdivision of Futurist architecture, influenced by the nascent car culture of the 1940’s, jets, the Space Age and the Atomic Age.

Googie architecture originated in Southern California and it was a standard style for motels, coffee houses and gas stations. Sadly, this style of architecture became less valued with time, and only a few structures have been preserved.
